An exceptional note bearing many hand-signed entries. Issued in Terre Haute, Indiana, redeemed and cancelled by the Keokuk Exchange Bank of Keokuk, Iowa. This note bears beautiful, extensive and ornate engraving; a masterly execution by W.L. Ormsby of New York. Scarce in this degree of preservation and having the appearance of a Gem, PMG notes "previously mounted" for two small stamp hinges on either side of the back of the note. The wonderfully engraved salmon-colored back design artfully consists entirely of a repetition of the number two.
