Fr.1136, 1870 $5 National Gold Bank Note, Ch.#1741, San Francisco, California, Very Fine
1870 $5 National Gold Bank Note, Ch.#1741, San Francisco, California, Very Fine.
A very desirable and popular note, National Gold Bank Notes are much sought after by collectors of Large-Size Type Notes, National Bank Note Types, California Nationals, gold coin collectors, western history collectors, and likely others.
The San Franciso bank issue are the only ones surviving in relatively available numbers with a few hundred reported. However, the majority have been excessively circulated and exist in low grade. This example is unusual in that it is in Very Fine condition. It is graded as such by PCGS with the notation of "small edge repairs", which is a minor professional restoration that serves to protect the note from damage. It is otherwise quite original.
This note exhibits exceptional original color front and back, including the widely popular gold coin vignette. The hand-signed signatures of the bank officers are still bold and readible. It is fairly priced and would be an assest to your collection.
