The Peoples National Bank of Georgetown, Ohio, Charter 5996, 1882 Date Back $10, Extremely Fine, PCGS-45

This is the finest known large size note of the 15 surviving examples from the Peoples Bank in Georgetown and a very beautiful one as well. When this note first surfaced fifteen years ago, it appeared and sold on eBay as a Gem (for $1880.00). Although it is not, and the PCGS opinion of Choice Extremely Fine is more appropriate, it is nonetheless a "gem" in the more generic sense. The outstanding appearance of this note assumes that of one of a higher technical grade than XF. It is enhanced by wonderful margins which, as a "D" position note, likely has a large a top margin as was physically possible to obtain when the sheet was cut. It is certain to enhance either a type note collection or an Ohio banknote collection.
