Bank of the United States $1000, Dec. 15, 1840, Philadelphia Issue, NY Redemption, 8804, CU

# 5502

An exceptional, New example of a historic $1000 Philadelphia Bank of the United States note (payable at New York) dated December 15, 1840, Serial Number 8773. It is boldly endorsed on the back, including four interest payment notations.

This historical financial document has survived in an exceptional degree of preservation and one of the nicest examples in existance. Notice that the serial number is only 31 notes removed from the other exceptional example offered under Item #5376.

This is also an Uncirculated example with no folds and bold original printed ink, and fresh-looking penned names, numbers and script. There is light evidence of stamp hinges on the upper back corners but not the slightest bit of handling has affected the paper.

This is a museum quality item representative of a controversal period of American financial and political history.
