Warren, OH, Ch.#1578, Trumbull NB, 1875 First Charter $10 Ch.VF

# 764
Unique Trumbull County Bank!

The Trumbull National Bank of Warren, Ohio, Charter #1578, 1875 $10, Choice Very Fine.

This extremely rare, unique, note looks Extremely Fine with very attractive vignettes, with tight margins the only likely distraction. We believe the grade assigned by Paper Money Guarantee is too conservative and certainly should have been assigned a numerical grade higher than "25". But we may be nitpicking as the value in this note derives from its rarity.

Do not confuse this note with those of other Warren, Ohio banks. The Trumbull National Bank is the rarest (besides The New Warren National Bank for which no notes are known to have survived) with this the only one known. Formed in 1865 and liquidated in 1885, the bank issued only First Charter notes. It has been reported that another note of the same type and grade with the consecutive serial number of 2518 exists. It is on record as having been sold in 1997. This is incorrect, it has been confirmed that it is the same note. In our opinion, the confusion stems from a misreading of the serial number, a not totally uncommon occurance in mistaking the numeral 9 for an 8, which may be understandable when viewing the image above.

This note is very favorably priced for type and rarity.
