Bank of the United States $1000, Dec. 15, 1840, Philadelphia Issue, NY Redemption, 8804, AU - PMG-62n

# 5376

An exceptional, New example of a historic $1000 Philadelphia Bank of the United States note (payable at New York) dated December 15, 1840, Serial Number 8804. Certified authentic by PCGS, it is boldly endorsed on the back, including four interest payment notations.

This is a very historical financial document that has survived in an exceptional degree of preservation and one of the nicest examples we have been able to offer. The note is Uncirculated, has no folds, and is graded nearly Choice by PMG at "62". Apparently, PMG's 62-Net grade opinion, one point below Choice, was assigned due to "Ink Burn", as noted on the label. The ink used in hand scribed documents of this vintage often resulted such an effect when heavily applied.

This note is an excellent value for one of the finest of its type.
