Fr.2404, 1928 $50 Gold Certificate, Very Choice CU, PMG-64. A popular note in a popular grade.

This is a wonderful example of the type. It has exceptional, bright black and gold ink and other than a moderate variance in the vertical margin is a Gem note. Computer images do not do it justice.

It is one of the small consecutive group from the A023975xxA serial number range that has been noticed over the years. Nine other pieces are on record (this note now accounts for a total of ten). All are Very Choice or Gem CU, with the majority have been graded "66".

A decade ago (before the advent of PMG & PCGS-C), we previously sold a similar note from this group, serial number A02397525A as ( a "raw") Ch./Gem CU offering. Subsequently, it was graded PMG-66, sold at auction (for $6,750.) and reoffered on eBay (at $11,250).

This is an extremely attractive note that may not quite make "Gem" on a technical grading basis but will still enhance the best of collections at a very favorable price.
