Very Rare Bank - Only 3 Notes Known!

The Second National Bank of Youngstown, Ohio, Charter #2217, Very Good 10.

Only three notes are known on the Second National Bank Of Youngstown, this one, an 1875 $10 and a $50 Brown Back. Only this note and the Brown Back have ever been offered for public sale.

PMG has graded this note at the upper end of Very Good with the notation "center repair". We believe that this notation is in error as there is no indication of a center repair. There remains a small perforation in the center of the note where the vertical and horizontal folds converge. It is not that noticible unless the note is held up to the light. On the positive side, this note presents itself very well for the grade. The margins are free of distracting splits and much original color remains - especially the red Charter Number, Seal and Serial Numbers. The hand-signed signatures are amazingly strong, especially for a VG/F note.

Although the lowest grade of the three known notes, this example has an acceptible appearance and remains an important addition to any comprehensive state-wide or Eastern Ohio collection. And, with a catalog value of $3,000.00, at a very attractive price.
