Scarce "Baltimore issue"
The Continental Congress met in Baltimore from December 20, 1776 to February 27, 1777 because Philadelphia was occupied by the British. This note was authorized by a resolution passed in Baltimore and has come to be known as the "Baltimore Issue". It is identical to the previous issue except it bears the name "Baltimore" in place of "Philadelphia".
This note is redeemable for thirty Spanish Milled Dollars or its equal in gold or silver. The strong signature is of Benjamin Levy;?one that we have not seen before on the $30 issue.
